Band Family Potluck and Band Booster General Meeting Sept. 6,
2007
The Sax quartet provided music as the potluck began. Band Booster board members
were introduced. Kate Quinn gave the treasurers report. During the past year we
have made $4,835.01 through Juneau-opoly Games sales, Escrip rebates,
Recycling and donations. With that we have purchased Standcarts, a new
director's stand and sheet music for the band program. We have also awarded a
$500 scholarship and provided coffee for the hospitality room during Music Fest
this past spring. Administrative expenses were $511 which included Post Office
Box rental and costs of selling the Juneau-opoly game ($300 theater screen ad
and $105 fee for a table at the Public Market last fall).
Lisa Golisek reviewed the band attire ordering procedure. JC Penneys is again
ordering items for the band program.
A proposed amendment to our bylaws was introduced and adopted, allowing former
band students and music educators to also be members (with the exception of the
current JDHS band director as that person sits on the board in an advisory
capacity).
Brian Van Kirk was elected to the board as chair of Travel/Events.
Current JHSBB fundraisers were reviewed and Beth Handley gave a presentation on
a new fundraising opportunity--a Spirit Basket through Longaberger. This is a
limited time promotion through the month of September.
Mr. Guiher discussed the band program and the possibility of a trip to Hawaii
over spring break for the "Festival Band" (Wind Ensemble and selected Concert
Band students) to participate in a Heritage Music Festival. Approval from
administration is pending.
