Volunteer Opportunities

In order to be successful we need YOU. This is YOUR organization working to assist YOUR students. Here is what you can do.

Become a member:
Regular Membership is open to all parents/guardians of current or former band students, former JDHS band students, any music educator with the exception of the current JDHS Band Director. To join, click on Membership Form . You can print the form and mail it to:

Become involved:
There are many ways for you to help. Whether it is serving as an officer or board member, working on a committee throughout the school year, helping out on a one-time event or offering ideas, we have a place for you. 

Band Booster Board:

  • Serve as an officer or director.
  • Directors are committee chairmen.
  • Board meets once a month.
  • Committees usually communicate by phone or email. Meet as necessary

Fundraising Committee:

  • Select fundraisers for students and Band Boosters.
  • Assist with signing out products to students, collecting monies.
  • Supervise students at fundraising events (i.e. working Mac's Cache, performing at the malls, etc.)
  • Identify grant sources and help in preparing grant applications.
  • Sell items at malls and school functions.

Publicity Committee:

  • Media contacts.
  • Designing flyers, posters, etc. for events.
  • Liaison with the Middle school band programs.
  • Maintain/update web site.

Newsletter Committee:

  • Obtain/submit information for the newsletter.
  • Distribute newsletter at concerts.

Travel and Events Committee:

  • Assist Band Director in planning of band trips and activities.
  • Usher at concerts.
  • Chaperone trips (Music Fest, Southeast Tournament, special trips).
  • Assist with in-town events (Spaghetti Dinner. Potluck, concerts).

Band Attire Committee:

Contribute:

  • Time: Help with a one-time event, an on-going committee or be on the board.
  • Money: Your financial contribution to the Band Boosters is tax-deductible. You can also specify if you want it to be used for a definite purpose such as equipment purchase, special band event, or scholarship fund.
  • Support: Attend band functions and Band Booster events.
